The Fur Council of Canada Is Misleading Consumers

I was horrified to learn that the Fur Council of Canada is claiming that the fur industry is "environmentally friendly."
There is nothing "green" about how animals are killed, electrocuted and suffer to provide needless fur in an age where there are far more sophisticated alternatives...
Fur farms generate enormous amounts of waste by the treatment of pelts so they don't rot on a coat or in a glove lining. These toxic chemicals are then released into the environment.
The FCC is also making the ostensibly false claim that fur is less harmful than alternatives like faux-fur, when in fact, it takes far more energy to create a fur coat than it does to make a fabric or even a faux-fur coat.
Concerned Canadians have recently filed a complaint with your Bureau that alleges the FCC is willfully misleading consumers in clear violation of the Competition Act. As requested in the complaint, please investigate these claims, and direct the FCC to correct all misleading information it is feeding to consumers.

I am defending the rights of those who are braver than I, more beautiful than I, and yet more delicate and fragile than I. I am contesting the rights of a killer who is more skilled than I, in the art of killing, more vain than I, in the audacity to feel more superior and more delicate and fragile than I because they only believe in one thing. Themselves. I am a part of a strong community defending animals liberties. I do not support the arrogance of a culture, a person or a government that supports the mutilation of this magnificent species.

I think it would be nice to see some of the athletes and the various members of the Olympic Committee speak into the injustice's of China. It is remarkable that an event intended to create an ideal around humanity is being encouraged to go ahead in the pitfall of inhumanity. Let us use this wonderful opportunity to correct some major imbalances and injustices in the world. It is a significant decision to stop the Olympics from happening but occasionally the right people really need to make the right decisions and make those very difficult decisions for those who can't. Not attending the Olympics would be heroic, but not attending the Opening Ceremony's is a relatively easy and at least a minor step in showing disapproval of such racist fanaticism against the Tibetan people. Let us all, Canada included support the Peaceful kind ones. And not tolerate fundamental oppression and unchallenged cruelty. Let's encourage our Canadian Prime Minister to follow suite! He does on everything else that President Bush does, why not this too!

My Message:

China's lack of respect for all life is clearly visible to the rest of the world. The mistreatment of people and animals obviously go hand in hand showing sheer irrelevance for all forms of life. I can only hope that this nation's bloody tactics and killing of it's own people, the pets' of it's people, the exotic animals as well as the rights and respects of one of the most peaceful nations on Earth (The Tibetans)will outrage every single person on this planet. Perhaps then China will find a way into a humane future, rather than living in a very dark, cynical and bloody past.
