Into The Eyes Of God
Pepper passes away from internal injuries.
Outrage around the world has sparked something very real for those who despise abuse and neglect towards animals. A Lithuanian papers says: " this event rocked Lithuania almost the same way as the pedophilia scandal in Kaunas." The Shelter has received donataions for Pepper and this money will be used to help the many other homeless animals who are desperately in need of assistance. Don't Let Pepper have died in complete vain.
The latest update is that Pepper's health is improving. He has begun to eat and drink once again and has had his fractures put in casks.
From what I can transcribe from the Lithuanian Newspaper articles, the name of the dog I am about to discuss is not "Sunelis," but Pepper. Pepper is a terrior mix that caught my own heart and the heart of so many others as they watched moments of his sad life captured on video for the whole world to bare witness to. Several young men with their cell phone camera's on carried Pepper out to a bridge. The man holding Peepr kept him tight in his arms, one may think almost kindly. While watching these moments I could only wonder what was going on through the dog's mind. He did not try to bite, claw or attempt to flee. He was so quiet, so still, perhaps far too placid for this moment. Did he know about the ominous moment about to come? The discussion and glances between these boys amid their giddy laughter was focused on the anticipation of something sinister and so unnerving to witness. They appear to be waiting for the cars to go by and in a moment of quiet the man in the blue sports coat lifts the dog away from his chest and out over the railing of the bridge. Still there is no evidence of the dog fighting. The boys are screaming now and he releases this precious soul from the gifts that once were called hands and could now be described as mutilating palms. We watch, together around the world, as this being is floating through the air in a perfect arc towards the hard, gravel earth below. It feels like utter agony during this extended moment of free fall. Some say they heard Sunelis scream, I can only hear the horrid jeering of these humans, waiting to see how their experiment will end. I and others am too stunned to move as the explosion hits. Pepper crashes to a stop and the dust rises around him, a yellow, fluffy blur that impacts so hard, nearly every bone in his body must be broken. Through drenched eyes and sobbing hearts we see his head turn and his tail move, wagging in the dust. He is crying, truly crying in the most sickening, desperately sad way, the sound both soothing to know he is alive, yet revealing the deep misery that comes from a place so far within it reaches the intangeable, the untouchable, that place of goodness, godliness, love. It is the sound of a perfect heart and a broken love story between men and their best friends, dogs. It is a site few of us will ever be able to remove from our consciousness, our memories, our fears. Our consciousness can not stop feeling and our fears keep growing in this hideous movement that is growing: the desire to shock, revolt and obscure humanity. Between the bits of broken Lithuanian comments and the murky readings it sounds like this video was going to be made "with or without money." One can only ask what kind of world we live in and how such things could even be imagined. There surely is a devil now inside of this man laughing at the pain he has caused one innocent animal and thousands of viewers and the joy he has given to demented minds that enjoy the shock of terror.
Please, help us on our path to bring justice for Pepper and others like him who will have even harsher tormentors than this. Pepper at the time of writing was found and placed in the hands of the Kuanas animal control unit and has been treated with first aid. He has multiple bone fractures and may need to be euthanized, but currently is in the care of a Veterinarian. Police have identified the suspect as Svajune Beniuk, born in 1987 and residing in the Jurbarkas district of Seredziaus SD. He is under investigation for other crimes such as theft and apparently an investigation will take place for animal cruelty charges. However other comments state that he will be merely fined for these actions. I am unaware at this time what the circumstances are. One report says the police hope to find him soon and that they thanked residents for providing information, but invite people to be more proactive and inform police immediately of illegal activities. All of the reports call these men "executioners." I do think this is a fitting title.
